English Language Arts

1st Marking Period

*Uses text to explain what the text says explicitly and drawing inferences from the text. (fiction and nonfiction)
* Explain the main differences between poems, dramas, and prose.
* Describe overall structure of events, ideas, concepts, or information in text.
* Determine the meaning of unknown and multiple meaning words and phrases using a variety of strategies.
* Write informational or explanatory texts to examine a topic and convey ideas and information clearly. 
* Write narrative text to develop real or imagined text using  effective technique, description, details and sequence of events. 

Mathematics

1st Marking Period

* Representing data using whole numbers in various ways. ( tables, bar graphs, line plots, etc.)
* Solving multiplication  or division problems
*  Finding all factor pairs for whole numbers up to and including 50
*  Solving problems with area and perimeter
*  Solving two-step word problems
* Analyze relationships between digits of a given number using place value
* Read and write multi-digit numbers up to and including 100,000 using numerals, number names, and expanded form
*Compare multi-digit numbers (<,>,=)
*Add and subtract multi-digit numbers up to and including 100,000
